In partnership with Birdy, a Japanese company recognized for making highly prestigious bar tools, and Erik Lorincz, the world’s most famous bartender, Project Alcatraz carries out the Alcatraz Bar Kit initiative. The Alcatraz Bar Kit consists of a limited edition of 250 exclusive cocktail pieces made with metals from weapons belonging to former criminal gangs.
Each kit comprises a spoon bar and a mixing tin encased in a sleeve made of decommissioned guns that were melted down in Venezuela and numbered, as exclusive pieces.
The upcycled weapons belonged to criminal gangs that were rescued from the world of crime, through Project Alcatraz. They decided to transform their lives and start a new path, so they handed their guns over as a symbol of moving away from the dark world of violence.
That is how Project Alcatraz, in a tangible expression of its commitment, transformed tools of devastation and pain into tools of celebration that will be given to the best bartenders in the world.
Project Alcatraz is a social reintegration program for young people and adults with behavioral problems, achieved by training in values, education for work, restorative justice, psychological treatment and through rugby which is a vehicle to transform their lives.
