13 Sep ALCATRAZ RUGBY CLUB BECAME CHAMPION IN COLOMBIAN TOURNAMENT

For the first time Alcatraz Rugby Club traveled to Colombia to participate in the IX Sevens a side rugby Tournament Tierra de Cantores, becoming champion, after defeating the Universidad de Magdalena RC with a score of 40 to 21, in the Galo Celedón stadium, in Valledupar Colombia.
Organized by the Apolo Rugby Club, the tournament with the participation of more than 27 teams between Colombia and Venezuela, in the senior female and male categories “It was a very interesting final match with a very good performance team, we kept with the objective of taking this new championship home and we achieved it”, said Wilkinson Arrieta, captain of the team. “It fills us with pride to have won with the participation of players who are part of the new generations of rugby players that year after year have been formed thanks to the rugby program of Santa Teresa Foundation,”
Alcatraz Rugby Club, which is made up of six competitive categories: Female U12, Male U12, youth U14, youth U18, Female and Senior, was born as part of Project Alcatraz®, a reinsertion program for young people with behavioral problems through work, rugby practice and training in values. Over time it evolved into a team made up mostly of players from school rugby programs.
