The social project award recognizes institutions who have excelled in the promotion of rugby and
its values.

El Consejo, Revenga municipality, June 2022.- Proyecto Alcatraz® received the Cisne award for
Rugby Social Project of the year in Spain, another triumph for Venezuela. This recognition
awarded by Cisneros Rugby Foundation was delivered at the Costume Museum in Madrid and
given to the program for its outstanding work in social reintegration.
Among other winners, this first edition had the Complutense University of Madrid for its support
to rugby and for being the headquarter of one of the oldest clubs in Spain. Also, Alberto Chicote,
owner of four important restaurants in Madrid, who participated in Top Chef, and promotor to the
sport. He, in each conference, gives and brings the example of rugby to those present.
The Argentine player Sergio Parisse was also recognized at the charity gala, for promoting the
values ​​of the sport, as well as being considered one of the best European players and his
outstanding participation in the Italian National Team, in more than 142 matches.
“Proyecto Alcatraz® has been recognized along with people who support the sport and are very
important to the world of rugby. Being able to share the award with them fills us with pride, it is
an award for Venezuelans who have decided to continue building the country," said Alberto
Vollmer, president of Santa Teresa Foundation.
The evaluations of the nominees were carried out by an outstanding jury: president of the
Cisneros Rugby Foundation, Manuel Sayagués; Gonzalo Barbadillo, President of the Complutense
Cisneros Rugby Club; Alhambra Nievas, former international referee and current World Rugby
Refereeing Development Manager. Representing women's rugby, Marina Bravo, who is a former
player and captain of the Spanish rugby team; Jaime Nava, former player and captain of the
Spanish rugby team; Lisandro Arbizu, former player and captain of the Argentine Rugby Team
(Pumas); Vicente Jiménez, Director of Diario Deportivo AS and Rodrigo Contreras, journalist and
rugby commentator on TVE, El Confidencial and La Cadena Cope.
The Cisneros Rugby Foundation was created in 2008 by the Cisneros Rugby Club to implement
different projects that support the spread of the sport. The Complutense Cisneros Rugby Club is
one of the oldest rugby clubs in Spain (founded in 1943) located in the University City of Madrid
that works every day to promote the values ​​that sport represents.
Since 2003, Proyecto Alcatraz® has been working to eradicate violence and crime peacefully in the
Revenga municipality of Aragua state. This initiative achieved to reduce the rate of violence in the

municipality; it has a presence in 36 Venezuelan prisons and has dismantled 11 criminal gangs,
without the use of violence.
